As long as there is still space in the marina, you can moor. Guests welcome for one night. You can fill up with electricity and water. Restrooms and showers available. Friendly harbor master. Some stay longer and others have become permanent boaters.

In the House of Rivers you can discover the partially hidden nature. Look at it, listen to it and even touch it. The staff are very dedicated, charming and will answer all your questions on your journey of discovery.
Around 100 events take place at the House of Rivers every year. You can find some of them in our event overview on Instagram.

In addition to the art exhibition, the ArtHotel is known for organizing afternoon and evening events several times a month. Perhaps you would like to include one in your Havelberg program. Here is the current event program of the ArtHotel.
7. Freibad
Lindenweg 6 · Google Maps
The only problem with the outdoor pool is that it is (only) open in high season. That means for you: If you come to Havelberg in June, July and August, you have a wonderful outdoor pool with several swimming pools from toddlers to sports swimmers, current channel, massage bubble water, water slide and diving platforms up to 5 meters!
There are large sunbathing lawns and space for other activities such as volleyball. There are changing rooms (also wheelchair accessible), showers, a snack bar and free parking on site.
One more thing: the outdoor pool is actually a size too big for our charming little town … which means for you: Here in Havelberg, you have enough space and freedom even in the height of summer. That’s why some people come by car from out of town. The low admission prices make the journey worthwhile.
8. Dining in Havelberg
Even if you’re just passing through Havelberg, you have to make at least one food stop. Our small town has 27 eating establishments. Here are just four suggestions:
- You can get original GDR rice pudding or sausages with soup from Kathrin Pantel during the week for little money.
- Enjoy the passing water sports while seasonal dishes are prepared for you on the restaurant ship “Hoffnung”.
- Enjoy Greek cuisine in the cult restaurant Akropolis or, depending on the season and weather, in the outdoor area at the market.
- In the “Güldene Pfanne”, you can be cooked for by chef Manfred Hippeli, who is well-known from TV. He is known nationwide for his regional specialties of fish, lamb, horse and wild game.
You can spend several days in Havelberg enjoying a variety of culinary delights. Here is a complete list of cafés, snack bars and restaurants.
9. Giant public festival – Pferdemarkt (4.9. to 7.9.2025, annually first Thu.-Sun. in September)
Festgelände Mühlenholz, Elbstraße 3B · Google Maps
It is estimated that around 1,000 animals are traded every year. Is that why 200,000 visitors come to Havelberg?
The horse market, whose history dates back to 1750, is a mixture of folk festival, shopping event and camping. In the meantime, it was called “Großer Markt” and “Heiratsmarkt”. The market is so huge that shuttle buses take visitors from the parking lots and the upper town to the event areas.
The “Heiratsmarkt” (= marriage market) has gone a bit out of fashion, but there are plenty of ring-free sexy women and smart men to be found.
The horse market is popular with traders because the stall fees in Havelberg are quite manageable and you can set up for four days of sales. The public appreciates the huge selection of collector’s items and rarities, so much so that they also make the long journey.
Moving impressions from the Rummel section:
The Havelberg Pferdemarkt is the biggest and most lucrative event in the entire region!
10. Boat parade – Bootskorso (30.8.2025, last Saturday in August every year)
Closed Uferstraße as a festival area · Google Maps
The highlight of the boat parade is the “showing” – the boat parade – from the Ziegeninsel down the Havel around down town (Stadtinsel) to the Winterhafen and the final fireworks display.
Before that, you can admire the numerous boats in the marina and on the water all day long. The Uferstrasse (B107) is closed on the old town island and is transformed into a party mile with food and drink stalls and live music.
Free parking is available to the west of the “Haus der Flüsse” and in Bahnhofstrasse towards the marina. If you are not traveling with your own boat, you can take part in the boat parade on the passenger boat.
If you have Havelberg relatives in Weinbergstrasse, it’s best to invite them to a barbecue. The boat parade can be seen from the numerous gardens and you can walk to the final highlight (fireworks) in the Uferstrasse, the harbor promenade parallel to the Bahnhofsstrasse or on the camping island.
Bonus
Bonus in 2025 will probably be the “Havelbiwak” of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). Due to heavy military demands on the soldiers of the Elb-Havel barracks as part of multinational exercises.
